How to create a poster in Corel DRAW

I will show you how to create an eye catching sports themed poster in just simple steps to create this sports day poster .you will use a selection of copyright free images along with some basic text and block shapes of color. The poster will have a simple but eye catching design which should immediately identify itself as a sports themed poster to the viewer, this is an important to reach your target audience.

STEP 1

For the poster , we will use an A3 canvas go to file-> new and in the option window choose paper A3 size . next we will add the base color of the poster . i will using an orange ,light sky blue and white. You can use different color according to your choice.

STEP 2

once you have chosen the color . next to create the rectangular shape at the top of the poster,use the color picker on the shapes to change its color

STEP 3 Now open your club logo in photoshop or corel draw you can go to file > place and import your club logo as smart object other wise if you use corel draw you can draw logo from itself using freehand tool.

STEP 4 Next use text tool to create a text box and type in the club name followed by presents the ultimate . the font style i will be using celtic you can try different font style .

STEP 5 once again use the text tool 'family sports day' and set size font style and color according to you are wish and then we will go to the outline tool to give the outline to the text .

STEP 6 Next on our agenda is images. The poster will contain a series of sports you can find the internet but i will tell you how to create it if you do not use photoshop without photo shop i will see you how to create your own sports images. first find the image you like and open it in corel draw use the freehand tool to draw this sports and then give the shape. This sports image use the shape tool then pick any color from color picker give any color according to your choice . i will give white color. you can give according to your choice.

if you want to make this sports image in photoshop you can follow this steps

First find an image you like and open it in photoshop . ensure the image is unlocked

and use the magnetic lasso selection tool to select part of the image you want to use

then go to select -> select inverse which will reverse your selection thus selecting all the

unwanted areas.

STEP 7 Now Simply press delete or backspace to remove the unwanted areas leaving you with just the part you want . press select-> deselect to deselect the image. use the eraser tool to tidy up any loose edge.

STEP 8 Go to image-> adjustments-> Threshold and edit the setting until you get white silhouette .if you can only get a black silhouette that is fine , just go to image-> adjustments->invert to change it from black to white.

STEP 9 You can repeat steps 6,7,and 8th for all the images you want to and place the around the poster using the move tool a nice touch is to place some image slightly overlapping the text . this will give the image more depth , to do it simply change the order of the image in the layers window and in corel draw.

STEP 10 To finish add any additional text that is required such as the time,date and venue of the sports day . once again i use tool box with similar font style and write this whole venue and give alignment.

you can use character window in photoshop to change more text setting such the distance between letters or lines of text.
